    Membership Chair: (2-year appointment)

    The Membership Chair develops and implements the membership plan.  Responsible for the membership database. Responsible for supporting membership benefits.  Liaisons with web-team to provide content to and maintain membership resources on the website.  Conduct annual survey, compile and summarize data to be shared with membership. Responsible for maintaining and verifying membership eligibility. Manage conference registration and liaise with Technology and Business Chair as needed.    

    Technology Chair: (2-year appointment)

    The Technology Chair is responsible for the revision, maintenance, and refining of the GBSSA website. Support GBSSA initiatives and brand through the use of technology.  Provide recommendations for more effective use of web technologies and tools. Supports chairs (i.e. conference registration, membership upload, ect.) Responsible for setting conference call system.

    Annual Conference Chair: (1-year appointment)

    The Annual Conference Chair is responsible for the implementation of the annual conference for the organization. Liaison with conference consultant for the programming and content of annual conference. Leads the annual conference committee. Responsible for providing content to communication and web teams for distributing conference information. Work with Business Manager to establish conference budget.  

    Vice-Chair: (3-year appointment: 1 year as Vice Chair, 1 year as Chair, and 1 year as Ex-Officio Advisor)

    The Vice Chair assists Chair with organization’s initiatives. They manage relationships with Professional Members and other organization partners, including oversight of the Annual Conference sponsors/vendors. Oversee and facilitate the work of the nominating committee. Perform the duties of the Chair in the latter’s absence, disability, or at his/her request. If the office of the Chair becomes vacant, he/she shall fill the vacancy. Oversee specific initiatives, outside of standing committees, as needed. Responsible for compiling and distributing the meeting minutes.

    Vice Chair : (three-year appointment, one-year as Vice-Chair, one-year Chair, one-year ex-officio)
    Shall serve as a member of the Board of Directors, and as an ex-officio member of all committees. He/she shall assist Chair with organization’s initiatives. If the office of the Chair becomes vacant, he/she shall fill the vacancy. Notify members of all organization meetings. Oversee specific initiatives, outside of standing committees, as needed. Responsible for compiling and distributing the meeting minutes.

    Communications : (two-year appointment)
    Responsible for external communications for the organization, including brand development and management. Duties include; newsletter, social media, and annual conference support.

    Conference: (two-year appointment with one year as chair and one year as support)

    Programming Chair: (two-year appointment)
    Responsible for developing and running programs and events of the organization.  Will work in collaboration with other members of the board to host professional development opportunities for members of the association. Manages the scholarship awards.

    Simply complete our Potential Presenter Proposal form and then e-mail completed form to board@gbssa.org.

    The extended deadline to submit is Friday, September 29th. Presenters get a discount on registration!

    Have you considered hosting a GBSSA conference?  We are in the process of selecting the host school and city for the 2017 conference.  This is a special year as we celebrate GBSSA's 20th Anniversary!     Want to give back to the profession of higher education? Do you have a bias for action? Would you like to invest in the leadership development of others? Consider joining our board! GBSSA is currently seeking new board members for open positions. At our conference each year, we transition to our new executive board. This year, we are seeking to elect the following positions:

    The Vice Chair (and Chair-Elect) shall be elected to serve as a member of the Board of Directors, and as an ex-officio member of all committees. They shall assist Chair with organization's initiatives, manage relationships with Professional Members and other organization partners, including oversight of the Annual Conference sponsor/vendor partners. They will oversee and facilitate the work of the nominating committee, perform the duties of the Chair in their absence, disability, or at their request. If the office of the Chair becomes vacant, they shall fill the vacancy. They will oversee specific initiatives, outside of standing committees as needed, and be responsible for compiling and distributing meeting minutes. This is a three year commitment (first year as Vice Chair, second year as Chair, third year as ex-officio Past Chair).

    The Membership Chair is responsible for developing and implementing membership plan, membership database, and supporting membership benefits. Liaison with Web team to provide content to and maintain membership resources on the Web site.  This is a two year term. 

    The Annual Conference Chair is responsible for the implementation of the annual conference for the organization. They will act as liaison with conference consultant from host institution for the programming and content of the annual conference, lead the annual conference committee, be responsible for providing content to communication and web teams for distributing conference information, and work with Business Manager to establish conference budget. This is a one year term.

    Proposal Submission Process
    In order to be considered, applicants must complete the proposal template, detailing a summary or outline of the presentation, then upload it using the form below.

    Please note that the Planning Committee may ask to combine submissions that are similar topics into one presentation. Applicants are also able to form their own panels if there is a topic of shared interest with colleagues.
